Ask Members of Congress to Support Access to MAT for Patients of NPs
As AANP continues its work focusing on opioid legislation, it is essential that you continue to reach out to your Representative and Senators as we fight to ensure that NPs can continue to provide MAT treatment to their patients. Please urge your Members to support H.R. 3692/S. 2317 now!

As previously reported, H.R. 3692/S. 2317, the Addiction Treatment Access Improvement Act of 2017, is championed by Reps. Tonko (D-NY) and Lujan (D-NM) in the House and Sens. Markey (D-MA), Paul (R-KY), Hassan (D-NH) and Collins (R-ME) in the Senate. HR 3692 was considered in the recent House Energy and Commerce mark up, but a vote for the bill in the Committee was ultimately tabled. This legislation would make permanent the authorization for NPs and PAs to prescribe MAT and expand the authorization to our APRN colleagues.

MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category
CMS announced that they changed the name of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Advancing Care Information performance category to the Promoting Interoperability performance category. The category itself has not changed, and further information regarding that category can be found on this fact sheet. Please continue to visit AANP’s MACRA page and the CMS resource page for updates on the Quality Payment Program. We anticipate that the proposed rule for year three of the program will be released towards the end of June.

Quality Payment Program Clinician Champions
CMS is accepting nominations for Quality Payment Program Clinician Champions until June 8, 2018. This is an opportunity to collaborate with CMS and have your voice heard regarding your experience with the program. We encourage nurse practitioners who have participated in the program and would be interested in volunteering as a clinician champion to self-nominate prior to the deadline this Friday.

Congress Returns to Washington, D.C.
Members of Congress have returned to Washington from last week's Memorial Day break. While they continue to engage on health care related legislative efforts, this presents a good opportunity for you to utilize the AANP Advocacy Center and send a message to your Members to educate them on issues of importance to NP practice.
